Hygienic Dress League

Detroit, MI, USA

Title: Two Headed Snake

Genre: Street Art

Hygienic Dress League (HDL) is an ongoing public art project that uses the framework of a corporation – legally and conceptually – as a new and original form of art.

Visually, HDL’s practice plays out through traditional and non-traditional modes of advertising. Since HDL’s official incorporation in 2007, the project has employed the visual and linguistic lexicon of corporate operations and culture to build a layered, multi-faceted, and often experiential narrative for an unsuspecting public. HDL is inspired by commercialism, corporatism, and its relationship to pop-culture, identity, and fashion. Inherently questions of value, social status, consumption, corporate values, and post-industrialism often arise.
