Liz Emirzian

Liz1 Growing up in Massachusetts then moving to Toronto in 2002, our Series One artist and illustrator, Liz Emirzian, creates moving images that are both alluring and powerful.

The amazing and talented Liz Emirzian moved to Toronto from the US to do a Continuing Education program in Illustration, Drawing and Painting, Life Drawing and Cartooning at George Brown College then went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration at OCAD University. Since, she’s blossomed into an accomplished artist, splitting her work between fine art masterpieces to more stylized illustrations for books and magazines in both Toronto and New York.

Emirzian is constantly challenging herself by exploring new techniques and mediums using beautifully muted palettes to create melodies of nature elements, animals, and graphic shapes. This is not just limited to brush and paper – her surreal aesthetic is also present in her sculptures and jewelry box designs. Her art is moody, gothic and slightly fairytale-ish, bringing a sense of childlike innocence to it.

Her juxtaposition of abstraction and realism can be seen throughout New York and Toronto including at The Ossington, The Greenpoint Gallery and The Living Gallery. But that’s not all. She has also self-published an illustrated children’s novel LYCAON: Story of The First Werewolf, sold at MOMA and!

For the latest in where she’s exhibiting (and further glimpses into her imagination), visit her page,, and check her out on Facebook and Twitter.
