NATURAL ANIMAL

FEATURED ARTIST

Feel like dancing? Get yourself to a Natural Animal show, stat. Matt Hunter and Devon Wright are two Toronto dudes who know how to get you up on your feet with their electronic beats and groovin’ tunes.

Toronto-based Natural Animal are ‘Sexy Music Curators’ according to their Facebook page, but even more so, they are electro-tropical-pop geniuses whose music leads always to a good time, whether you’re on the dance floor or just hanging in your room with a bag of chips. We are huge fans of our Series Two band’s nu-disco / synth-pop sound and assure you will be, too, after a listen. Not to trivialize their work with our bubbly descriptions, of course. There is a much deeper and more earnest element at play: the upbeat yet clean production from Hunter combined with the animated vocals from Wright generates an sound that is both enthralling and a bit eery at times.

The EP artwork on our current set of labels was created by Toronto visual artist Alex Viau and all images were captured by Victoria-based photographer Beau Partlow. For an even deeper experience, download the Blippar app, free for Smartphones, scan the label, and what! Who You Are starts playing right in the palm of your hand, for a little taste of the hybrid of Cut Copy, Miike Snow and Foster The People that is Natural Animal.

Hard at work on their debut album, Natural Animal will have several music videos and singles released over the next few months leading up to the expected debut this summer – watch out for them on their website, ntrlanml.com, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @ntrlanml.

That’s not all! Natural Animal will be using their musical prowess to DJ and curate the music for Collective Arts’ upcoming opening night party for Toronto x Montreal art show, The Alliance, May 20, 2014. Working with Fred Caron, celebrated Montreal artist and creative director for Osheaga Festival, the show will bring together 12 up-and-coming artists from TO and MTRL for an unforgettable unity of creative ingenuity.
