Rhyme & Reason Takes Home Gold

When we received the invite to the 12th Annual Canadian Brewing Awards in Fredericton, NB, no way did we think we were walking out with gold. That’s right: our flagship (and effing delicious) brew, Rhyme & Reason, won top prize in the North American Style Pale Ale (Bitter) category this year!

To say we’re proud is an understatement. The Canadian Brewing Awards are THE competition for judging the quality of Canadian brewed beer. They are the only national competition that invites breweries of all sizes from across the country to compete in a blind tasting to see who brews the best beer in a variety of style categories.

How do they decide? A panel of approximately 25 Certified Beer Judges (BJCP) have the not-so-easy but awesome job of tasting and judging beers based on these areas: aroma, appearance, flavour, mouth-feel, and overall impression. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our brewmaster, Ryan Morrow, who has once again proven he is one of Canada’s most innovative brewers. His expertise, creativity and experimental drive have helped us create what is now Canada’s top APA. Rhyme & Reason is a beautifully crafted blend of Citra, Centennial, Chinook and Simcoe hops minus any bitterness. Malt sweetness of toasted wheat flakes, Crystal and Carafoam in the background complements the hop-forward taste, making it one remarkably drinkable and unique brew that beat out the competition. Gold for liquid gold. Seems fitting.
