So, the coolest punk outfit to come out of Ottawa are Steve Adamyk Band. Why? Theyre obnoxious, theyre rowdy and THEY APPEAR ON OUR SERIES FOUR BEER LABELS.

Don’t let the almost #normcore name fool you: Steve Adamyk Band are not a blues, jazz OR funk ensemble. Oh no, they are pure punk band. More specifically, a band that plays loud trash-pop. The four Ottawa-based friends/bandmates have an underground sound inspired by 70s punk, the skinny tie bands of the 80s and 90s garage rock.

Like a fiery phoenix, the band was born from the ashes of Million Dollar Marxists (Gearhead Records) and Sedatives (Deranged Records) that left a whole whack of orphaned songs with no proud parents. Frustrated playing in bands that would eventually call it quits, Steve Adamyk formed a band that could have an endless timeline, even if the name is outside of the standard band name zone.

Steve Adamyk Band released two European singles before their first live performance, and from then spent the last five years releasing four LPs (and eight EPs!), while touring Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA. The Dirtnap Records (of Portland, OR) recording artists have been to SXSW, Sled Island, and Ottawa Bluesfest, among other international festivals, while having their music licensed to MTV’s Ridiculousness. “Dial Tone“, the group’s fourth full-length, was released on July 1st via Dirtnap Records (Japan’s Waterslide Records).

The artwork that appears on our Series Four labels was designed by Kenneth MacLaurin and released as the album cover for “Dial Tone.” Inspired by stock LP sleeves from the early 70s, the cover art is an abstract piece, paying homage to punk sub-culture.
