Burnt Toast Creative is the working alias for Scott Martin, a Hamilton, Ont.–based illustrator. Scott’s work has been described as “playful cynicism,” mixing bright, fun designs with sometimes dark undertones.
Scott has become an internationally known artist and freelance commercial illustrator. His designs have been featured in numerous publications and campaigns worldwide, with a roster of clients that includes Google, Facebook, Dropbox and Red Bull.
Scott approaches his art with a goal in mind but always stays open to the idea that something totally unexpected could happen once he gets drawing. The key to Burnt Toast’s popularity is Scott’s instantly recognizable style, populated with characters that are fun, cheeky, and sometimes a little macabre, all rendered in his trademark non-threatening pastel palette.
Collective Arts was built on the idea that creativity fuels creativity and Scott demonstrates this in his daily work.
This cozy, cream crewneck honours features a clean, bold graphic by Burnt Toast. It will have you looking both comfortable and cool!
Art connects us. The Collective Arts Resident Artist Program invites artists to collaborate with us in their home cities to create art, build community, and inspire creativity on a global scale. Our Resident Artist Program looks to create paying opportunities for artists, document and promote the process, and build lasting relationships in arts communities around the globe. We believe that the more creativity there is in the world, the better, and we’d like to introduce you to the people behind this creative movement. Follow along and meet the artists that we work with, their influences and the environmental inspirations behind their work.
