Meet the Women behind Loud and Clear

This year part of our International Women’s Day celebration was launching a special-edition beer, Loud and Clear Tart Cherry Stout w/ Chocolate. This brew was 100% made by women and that started with crafting the recipe.

Loud and Clear was developed by our Operations Coordinator Noelle Stapinsky, Marketing Manager Alyssa Janssen and Krista Stemmler from our Quality Assurance Lab. All three have a TON of beer knowledge and experience in brewing so we knew they’d come up with something killer. The result is a lightly soured stout with a perfect balance of tart cherries and beautiful roasty notes of dark malts plus Dutch chocolate to amp up the chocolatey flavour and add a touch of sweetness.

Learn a little more about the women behind Loud and Clear:

NOELLE STAPINSKY – OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

How long have you been with Collective Arts?
I’ve worked for Collective Arts for almost three years. I was a Brewer, then Senior Brewer. Now I’m the Operations Coordinator. But soon I’ll be senior brewer again. I can’t help it, I miss brewing πŸ™‚

How’d you get started in brewing?
I’ve always loved beer; tasting it and learning about it. Seven years ago, I decided I needed to make a career change. A job posting came up for a brewer. Honestly, I looked at the description and thought “I have no idea what any of this means.” So I applied. I was thrown directly into the fire, brewing on a four vessel semi-automated brewhouse. I was instantly hooked.

Go-to beer style? Β
Ummm, stouts or porters.

Best brewing moment/memory? Β
All of the incredible brewers I’ve worked with over the years.

ALYSSA JANSSEN – MARKETING MANAGER

How long have you been with Collective Arts?
3 years! I started in the retail store leading brewery tours. This grew into supporting our US team with new market launches. Now my focus is managing Collective Arts Fest and marketing.

How’d you get started in brewing?
A few years back I worked in a small brewpub in Brisbane, Australia, where I was able to learn a thing or two about brewing. When I got home I enrolled in the brew program at Niagara College!

Go-to beer style?
Pilsner or Dry Hopped Sour.

Best brewing moment/memory?
Brewing a collab in the Colorado mountains with Outer Range!

KRISTA STEMMLER – QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN

How long have you been with Collective Arts?
2 years. I’ve been a Brand Ambassador working at beer festivals all summer, a Taproom Server working with all the lovely faces up front, and now I’m a Quality Assurance Technician setting things on fire in the lab.

How’d you get started in brewing?
My friends got me interested in craft beer, which morphed into our experimentations in homebrewing. I later took the Niagara College Brewmastery program, and have honed my love of science and beer ever since.

Go-to beer style?
Wild-fermented beers!

Best brewing moment/memory?
Homebrewing outside with friends on sunny days πŸ˜€
